Time For A Catch Up Post

So as you can tell I am horrible about keeping up with this blog... So here is my "hurry and catch up to the present" post. I will try to go in chronological order... But if a mix some things up... I guess no one will really no anyway so it won't matter all that much ;)

Since we have gotten married we have been CRAZY busy with school, graduation, family, big purchases, weddings, new additions, work and new work, and awesome trips!! It's been a crazy 9 months (no the addition is not a baby ha ha) but we have loved every minute of it.

First quick story to catch you all up on would be about the amazing Mia. When I turned 16 I got an amazing car for Christmas/birthday I guess you could say. She was very good to me and my friends taking us on senior road trips, taking me to college for the first time away from home, and everywhere I needed to be in my crazy life. When Brett and I got married we moved up to Oakley, Utah. Very gorgeous mountain small town, however an hour and a few canyons away from school.

One freezing cold January morning I was on my way to school down the canyon and unfortunately hit black ice on a sharp turn and my wheel locked up and I was unable to turn my car. I fortunately saw the accident coming and braced myself for the impact. After what felt like 10 minutes (probably only about 5 or 10 seconds) my car came to a stop and everything was going off. The airbags had deployed, my hazards were flashing, my brights were on, and everything else that could be blinking or had a light was also on, and I was in shock and didn't know what to do. My car had shut itself off, but it was still rolling down the canyon. So I finally came back to reality and pulled off to the side of the road just as a bunch of cars came rushing past me. I got out of my car and started walking towards a car that had pulled over to help me. I was still holding my own and was ok, a little shaky, but all in all I was doing well. And then I turned to look at my car....

And that's when it all became real. Before everything was in slow motion and didn't seem to have really been that bad, but when I saw all four sides of my car smashed I knew I had hit the railings back and forth and back and forth like a pin ball machine. I tried calling Brett a few {hundred} times, but he was on his way to work and didn't answer. So I called my dad and he came to my rescue. We watched my car get loaded onto the tow truck and watched it drive away for the last time...

Although it was probably the scariest experience I have had, everything turned out alright in the end and thanks to Brett's amazing and selfless grandparents, we were able to buy their car from them. Biggest purchase that I have ever made by myself but I love my new car :)

Because I don't want this post to be 10 years long, I will {hopefully} keep doing little catch up posts here and there throughout the next little while to get all our fun and wild adventures written down in one place.

♥ Enjoy!

The Start Of Our Journey

The Start of Our Crazy Fun Journey

Now that we are married I figured that I better start a blog... I guess it's just what you do when you get married. It will also be a great way for our close friends and family to know what we are up to in our crazy busy lives. A lot has happened since we got married so I thought I would go back to that day and start from there...

Our Wedding Day...Before
December 13, 2012

Preparing for our wedding was fun and crazy. I was working and going to school full time so adding a wedding on top of it really made things interesting... but I loved every second of planning the wedding, and I had tons of great helpers that did so much for me. Shelly Sorensen (my AMAZING mother-in-law) did so much to make our wedding day special, she put on a extra reception for the people living in Oakley so that they didn't have to travel so far.. in case there was lovely snow that day.

The "Open House" was so much fun and turned out beautiful. Brett's family did an amazing job setting everything up and making it such a perfect night. It was the night before the wedding so we got a little taste of what the reception was going to be like the following night. We had so much support from our friends and family in Oakley. And the food was amazing... all made by Shelly has well. Needless to say that night was amazing and a great start to our crazy wedding adventures.

Our Wedding Day
December 14, 2012

Our wedding day started out pretty hectic for me.. I was rushing to get ready on time, not sure why since our wedding time at the temple was for 1:00 in the afternoon. We made it on time and everything in the temple went better than I could have imagined. Brett's sweet grandpa Bob was our temple sealer, which made it all the more special. He did such a great job.

After the sealing, I guess you could say that a few things went south...

I was getting in to my wedding dress in the temple, which only had straps, and had an amazing jacket that was custom made by Brett's aunt Robyn (she also altered my dress for me which was not very easy at all, so thank you to Robyn for all of her help with the dress) but, the jacket was no where to be found. Of course I started crying because I thought that I was going to have to wear a horrible jacket that didn't fit me and was not very flattering. Luckily my wonderful mom saved the day and was able to get it from the car (luckily we didn't leave it at home or we would have made everyone wait FOREVER in the freezing cold). So my mom and my sister-in-law Nicole calmed me down, we fixed my make-up and hair, and then went to see all of our friends and family.

You would think that things were starting to go a little bit better now that we had my jacket.... wrong!! As we were exiting the temple to go out and take pictures my mom asked for my keys so that she could go put my temple stuff in my car for me, I am searching....searching.... searching....no keys anywhere in my bag!! Being the genius that I am, I locked my keys in my car in the parking garage. We decided to not worry about that at the moment and worry about getting pictures at the temple. The pictures went well and turned out great, the weather really cooperated with us, it wasn't extremely cold for being December.

After all of the picture taking I called my mom to see if she had gotten the car situation figured out, but unfortunately the car service was having a hard time finding my car because it was conveniently parked in an underground parking garage downtown... there are a lot of those. Yes I did try to break into my car with a wire hanger... don't know why I thought that would work.

Bride breaking into a car... classic ha

We kept waiting and waiting but Brett and I couldn't wait any longer because we had to hurry to the reception. So my mom kept waiting and we took Eddie's car to the reception. We thought that would be the last thing that would happen, surely we had already had enough bad luck, but we were wrong. All of the pictures for the reception and the hot chocolate maker were in my car, which was locked, with the keys in it, in a parking garage.

Brett and I hurried to the reception, of course stopping at a fast food place (I think burger king...YUCK!) so Brett got food and I didn't because I was too worked up to eat. We finally made it to the reception and started to take more pictures. My mom was still stuck downtown but finally got the car situation figured out, we got all of the food to the reception and the rest of the night turned out pretty fantastic.

Our Candy Buffet (Thanks Megan!)

We really appreciated our messy car ha! And that candy being thrown at us :)

All of our friends and family were so amazing throughout the whole day, keeping me calm and making sure that the reception went smoothly from there on out. All in all it turned out to be a great day and I couldn't be happier to have married my best friend. And that is really what it is all about, it didn't matter how the day went, I was just so happy to get to spend eternity with Brett Alan Sorensen!

We want to thank everyone who helped make our day special. There was so much to do and everyone was so great to help us out. We really appreciated it so much. We also want to thank everyone who came out the open house, temple, and/or reception to support us on our special day.

We have the best friends and family EVER!!!
